Ken was appointed President & CEO of North Shore Bank in 2017 after a 28 year career overseeing a number of different departments at the bank. Ken is actively involved in the banking industry on both a regional and national level, and currently serves on the Minnesota Bankers Association Board of Directors as Vice Chair/Treasurer, as well as the American Bankers Association Government Relations Council. In addition, he also serves on the APEX Board of Directors and believes in the importance of building a strong and vibrant business community. Ken is passionate about the bank and its employees and it shows.

Brenda’s 30+ years of banking experience is merely the tip of the iceberg when you also consider her many professional achievements. In addition to serving as the Bank's Executive Vice President, Brenda oversees North Shore Investments & Trust, North Shore Retirement Solutions Center, North Shore Private Banking, North Shore Insurance, and Information Technology & Innovation. She is a graduate of the University of Washington Electronic Payments Institute, the Minnesota Bankers Commercial Lending School, the University of Wisconsin’s Graduate School of Banking, the Cannon Trust School, the Leadership Duluth program and she is an Accredited ACH Professional (AAP). Brenda has served on a number of non profit boards over the years, including Program of Promise, Girl Scouts of MN and WI, Lakes & Pines, and the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation.

St. Louis Bank for Savings closing back in 1994 was North Shore’s gain when Brian, and several other St. Looie alums, helped form our North Shore Mortgage Division. Brian made the transition from VP of NSM to VP of Business Banking in 2001 and has been responsible for shaping that division’s financial and reputational success ever since. As a Harvard grad with a degree in economics, Brian understands the myriad of factors that can influence a business’ ability to succeed or fail. Brian lends his time and talents to a wide variety of community organizations including serving on the boards of the St. Luke's Hospital, Mars Lakeview Arena, One Roof Community Housing, and the Kitchi Gammi Club Foundation.

Back in 1994, along with some co-workers from the former St. Louis Bank for Savings (St. Looie), Joe started North Shore Mortgage and has had the pleasure to watch it grow to be the area’s largest local residential lender. Along with being a UMD graduate and a US Navy veteran, Joe has over 45 years of mortgage lending experience, a wall full of awards from various community housing associations, and the honor to sit on numerous local and state lending and non-lending boards of directors. First rate service, local decision making, and doing everything right the first time are standards that Joe intends never to compromise.

Patricia provides strategic direction in HR for North Shore Bank, bringing with her a wealth of experience in Human Resource leadership having worked in a variety of industries. Patricia’s specialties include: corporate culture, employee relations, leadership, recruitment, performance management, training and development, benefits administration, policy development and strategic planning. Her vast background in HR provides valuable insight and direction as our staff and service offerings continue to grow. Patricia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of North Dakota and is SHRM- SCP and SPHR certified. She is also a graduate of the renowned Dale Carnegie Training. In her free time, Patricia serves on the Board of Directors for the Northland Human Resources Association and serves on the Lake Superior Zoo Board.

Rick Haney has been in the banking industry for over 30 years, spending the last 17 as part of the North Shore Bank team where he oversees Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Security and Fraud. Rick holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and is a 2010 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

In Matt’s sixteen years of employment with North Shore Bank, he has worked in various departments including Commercial Banking, Private Banking and Financial Operations. In 2019, he was appointed to his current role as Vice President of Finance and Operations, where he oversees the Financial Operations, Consumer Deposit and Loan Operations, and Marketing departments. Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance, with a minor in Economics from Michigan Tech. In 2019, he completed the Graduate School of Banking program held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning both the Graduate School of Banking degree and a Master’s Certificate in Executive Leadership. Matt serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Downtown Council and is an active volunteer with the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in the Northland.

Tim joined North Shore in 2014 and has served in key roles in the Investments & Trust department up until 2022 when he was promoted to VP, Financial Management. In his current role as Chief Financial Officer, Tim uses his diverse professional background to focus his energy and apply his knowledge on the financial management for the Bank. Prior to joining the Bank, Tim held a senior analyst position in commercial lending. He also has experience in corporate tax as a staff accountant for a publicly traded company, and investment and financial planning as a financial advisor. Tim is a graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, with a Bachelor of Accounting degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with emphasis in finance. He is a graduate of the Cannon Trust School, as well as a Certified Public Accountant. Tim currently serves on the executive board of the Duluth Playhouse.
